Collaborative Notes: Open Data for Decisions
The value of data lies in its ability to inform everyone’s decisions. To channel the flow of open data streams and achieve the vast benefits they can provide we need to gain an understanding of who makes decisions, what types of decisions they need to make, and how they would best interface with the data. Does New Zealand need a National Data Strategy that establishes a shared view of the outcomes we want to achieve and lays out how we can coordinate to achieve them? Who should have the mandate to drive this? And what outcomes do we want?
